Mariah Carey NEW single “Obsessed” Sampler and Rating!
Mariah Carey , the self proclaimed Queen of divas has a good old pop on her new single “Obsessed” – the first track from her upcoming album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” which is reportedly due out Aug. 25 on Island Records. Has received radio airplay today and the sampler is below courtesy of You Tube (soundtrack only). It’s being billed as a diva pop at the rapper Eminem who has been having a go at some female celebs in his latest offering, Mariah has decided to hit back with Diva Power. Full video due for later release when is as yet unclear!
The Verdict:
Usual Mariah quality, sounds a little bit different from her usual offerings and not in the “more of the same” category. Vocal quality cannot be denied, lyrics are tongue in cheek and very good, its catchy but we feel as with a lot of Mariah songs and with quality songs from quality artists in general they take a while to grab, but on repeated play/listening grow on you and have incredibly long shelf life. This is a 3 and a half star song in quality terms but the intial grab is not quite there for us, but its good none the less. Initial Rating 3 stars out 5 ++++++++++. We have listened again for a second time just to see if this grab theory bears out and we have upgraded to a final Rating 3 and half stars out 5. Not her best ……… but pretty good!
