Lily Allen and The Saturdays Radio 1 Big Weekend Live, Swindon!
The Radio 1 Big Weekend was held over the weekend on 9 and 10 May and this is quite a big event on the music calendar and heralds that time of year when live music events will be starting to gather steam and of course coverage will be here. The two day event which was held in Swindon, Wiltshire at Lydiard Country park is Europe’s largest free festival. Loads of big names at this event with mainly a Brit flavour but US music star Taylor Swift was in attendance and performed live along with Alesha Dixon and Lily Allen and also “The Saturdays” reckoned to be the next big thing and looking to take on Girls Aloud?, with plans also to tame the US where Girls Aloud have not yet enjoyed any major success.
We’ve included two live performances from the event both are not “mobile phone” quality, we are talking “broadcast” quality, good enough to look at in a critical manner. The first is from a lady going by the name of Lily Allen singing her UK No1 hit single “The Fear” and secondly a girl band going by the name of “The Saturdays” singing there cover version of the Depeche Mode song ”Just Can’t Get Enough”
Both are live, at the same event, under the same conditions, one performance is spot on the money and one is not up to much at all (in our professional opinion). Do our job for us and become a film/music critic. Guess which is which??. Never know there could be a job for somebody with a critical eye and ear in the future at FJ Girls!!!! These performances have not been rated, there will be more of these in the future as loads of live music events are on the way.
