Angelina Jolie Returns to Iraq
Making this her third trip to Iraq since August 2007, Angelina Jolie arrived in the country Thursday to meet with displaced families.
A UNHRC Ambassador, Angie offered her support and hope that there would soon be a change for tons of people who have been uprooted from their homes in the district of Abu Ghraib.
“I want to come back and find you in a better place and in a different situation,” she said. “We hope that UNHCR and the government will support you in getting a piece of land. You need help not because you are poor, but because you are the future of Iraq.”
The actress says she’s dedicated to seeing continued improvements.
“There are some changes. There are returns of displaced people, not a big number, but there is progress. This is a moment where things seem to be improving on the ground, but Iraqis need a lot of support and help to rebuild their lives.”
Sometimes I forget that this is the same woman who was married to Billy Bob Thornton and wearing vials of blood around her neck.
